Spiritual awareness is a gift that occurs in all places and all times and transcends such human concepts as 'religion'. Because it frequently tries to describe that which is beyond the experience of this world, the words do not always exist to communicate what has been experienced. However, sometimes the urge to do so becomes irresistible, despite the difficulties. This explains how the writings that follow came about and their inevitable imperfections. Some of them have previously appeared in the Trentham Parish magazine.

The link between sustainability and spirituality is strong. However, I have wanted to stress the connection with Christian teaching because the economic model that most threatens the world's environment is often claimed to have arisen from the very Protestant tradition to which I belong.
