These links are intended to give a greater insight into the nature and application of the scientific method.
A key feature on whether a study can be classified as a science is if it
can be subject to the rigours of scientific investigation. However, it needs to be emphasised that
many phenomena cannot be explained by scientific investigations. This does not make them
any less 'valid' to many people...and it is , surely, the height of arrogance to dismiss such phenomena, just because they cannot be explained by science, or if they cannot be subject to a scientific analysis.
This is not meant as a lead into the X-Files; it is a statement to keep an 'open-mind' on observations and phenomena. Some day, some year, we might just begin to understand the nature and behaviour of what are classified by many to be non-sciences.
(Introduction by Dr Overy, Head of Science, North Chadderton School . This statement is
not a policy statement of the school. However, it is the basis upon which we start our discussion into Science/
Non-Science in SATIS A/S level)
